Completed Project: Big Love Shawl

I am hooked on making shawls! Shawl #2 in 2013! The pattern is called Big Love, link here- Big Love.

This one was not planned, but I had lots of yarn left over from the Spirals sweater.  This will be a gift for my grandmother, as my mom got lots and is refusing any more (for now).

It was a fun project because of the different sections, which kept my interest. So I finished the shawl in three days.

The edging is definitely the focal point, it really compliments and embellishes the shawl.
This was an easy peasy pattern and a fabulous result!

Completed Project: Spirals Sweater

High and low I've searched for the perfect sweater pattern for my mom. One that she can wear  to the office in the daytime and possibly a casual dinner in the evening. When I saw Spirals sweater pattern by Doris Chan I knew it was the one! I could not wait to get started.

My mom chose a plum purple colour - one of her favorites. I ordered Wool of the Andes Sport from Knit Picks. It arrived just before Christmas. What can be better than spend the holidays making a beautiful sweater for my mommy?

The fit of the sweater is impeccable. It fits her like a glove.
The project was easy and breezy to crochet and fun to boot. The pattern itself is well-written and not difficult to follow. I also like that is simple to customize to get the perfect fit for any shape. The top down construction  also means that the sweater can be tried on during the process of crocheting. Love it!

I actually ordered way too much yarn so I've got a hefty leftover stash, which I am currently turning into a beautiful shawl.
Stay tuned!

First Shawl in 2013!

Voila! My first shawl of this year is ready to go to cold and wintery Russia to keep warm my dear aunt Irina.

I enjoyed crocheting this shawl. It was a quick and interesting project without being monotonous.

The pattern is Seraphina's Shawl and the yarn is Redheart Eco Ways Bamboo Wool -55% bamboo and 45% wool.
